Throwing Agateware with Larissa Warren

In this hands-on one-day workshop, Larissa will share with students her method for creating wheel-thrown agateware forms using the natural pigment of mid-fire clays.

Topics covered include: Mixing clays, visual and ceramic history (slide show and hands-on demo); clay tech, shrinkage, and clay properties; combinations, patterns, and considerations; throwing tips and tricks; throwing pattern bottoms and tops; additions, throwing, and altering; trimming demo; firing suggestions; raw vs glazed.

Clay and morning/afternoon tea provided.

Students to bring:

  • Apron and towel

About Larissa Warren

Larissa Warren is a multi award-winning ceramic artist living and working on Tamborine Mountain. Her practise is driven by a fascination of the minerals and clays of the earth’s layers and how they are uncovered. In 2019, Larissa left high school art teaching to concentrate full-time on her art career which includes making, researching, writing, and presenting workshops.
