Jason Zeng

is an avid part-time pottery artist, while he works fulltime as Associate Professor of Composite Materials at University of Southern Queensland in Toowoomba. Jason was born and grew up in Southeast China, close to Jingdezhen a centre of porcelain making for over 1,000 years.

As a young boy, his playground included the pottery workshop run by his grandfather. As an immigrant to Toowoomba since 2017, Jason consciously uses pottery to engage with the local community. He is an active member at Darling Down Potters Club, as well as Ceramic Arts Queensland. Jason’s pottery artwork overlays his personal life experience as a resident in Toowoomba, intertwining the well-researched indigenous culture and heritage.

Through the pottery artwork, Jason finds a spiritual passage to the land of Toowoomba and beyond. Jason adapts his academic expertise and skills to the research and execution of his pottery projects. Jason produces his pottery at his home studio and at Darling Downs Pottery Club. Jason Zeng has a strong track record in delivering multi-million research projects, as well as delivering art gallery exhibitions.
