Cecily Willis
I live in Darwin in the Northern Territory on Larrikia Country.
I have been making functional and sculptural clay pieces for about 20 year and have enjoyed teaching ‘Throwing on the Wheel’ classes at Tactile Arts in Darwin for 16 of those years.
I am represented in Darwin by Paul Johnstone Gallery where I have had a number of solo and group exhibitions. I have 2 pieces in the Townsville City Council permanent collection and 3 in the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT).
I was winner of the Rainford Family Award in the 2020 Biennial North Queensland Ceramic Awards and have been a finalist in these Award exhibitions a number of times.
As well as participating in exhibitions around Australia, I make functional pieces which are sold in a number of Darwin retail outlets. This is the work that keeps me connected to my community and keeps me busy.
